Maine People Before Politics Announces Staff Changes and
Renewed Focus on Protecting Maine’s Economy

Former Governor Paul R. LePage to serve as Honorary Chair

AUGUSTA—Maine People Before Politics announces that it has named Michael Hersey and Julie Rabinowitz to key positions. Maine People Before Politics (MPBP), founded in 2011 as a non-profit organization, supports public policy that moves Maine’s economy forward and protects individual liberty.

In addition to these staff changes, MPBP welcomes former Maine Governor Paul R. LePage to serve as the organization’s new honorary chair.

“I will never rest in my work to make Maine prosperous,” stated Governor LePage. “It is important that those who believe in smaller government, freedom and—most importantly—a thriving economy, have a big tent organization. My administration demonstrated that by decreasing both the cost of doing business and the cost of living, our state can compete in the global economy and Mainers’ wages rise.  We cannot return to the failed policies of the past and must fight to ensure the state enacts good public policy. I am pleased to support Maine People Before Politics’ efforts to serve as a policy forum and a grass-roots organizing team for those who want to see Maine’s economy continue to grow.”

As honorary chair, Governor LePage will lead MPBP in an advisory capacity and serve as an ex-officio member of the board; he will not be an employee of the organization.

Michael Hersey of Waterville has been named MPBP’s Director of Operations. MPBP has also hired Julie Dumont Rabinowitz of Falmouth to serve as the organization’s Director of Policy and Communications. Most recently, Ms. Rabinowitz served as a senior policy advisor and press secretary to Governor LePage. Brent Littlefield, who has been Governor LePage’s political consultant since his initial campaign for governor in 2010 and who has worked with other pro-economic growth organizations, will serve as MPBP’s grassroots and media adviser.

The mission of Maine People Before Politics is to promote and advance policies that benefit the people of Maine by creating an environment conducive to job growth, with the intent of ultimately fueling Maine’s economy, to conduct research and educate the public about issues related to economic growth, and to provide a voice for the people of Maine free of special interests.

Since its founding, MPBP has informed the public about important policy debates supporting the repayment of Maine’s welfare hospital debt (see: https://youtu.be/4AyNjHLEc_Y). MPBP works to engage and inform the Maine people while seeking to affect public policy. For more information about MPBP, visit www.mainepeoplebeforepolitics.com.
