This morning, MPBP checked to see where Governor Janet Mills was in spending the $1.25 billion in CARES Act money. This is the money passed by Congress in March to help the states pay for pandemic-related costs.
As of the report dated today, November 9, from her Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs, Governor Mills has spent, allocated, or announced how she will spend ALL of the $1.25 billion—without convening the Legislature.
Now, she has moved on to spending the interest.
To date, the $1.25 billion has earned $3,941,733 in interest.
The balance of the funds remaining is $3,628,775.
